REGINA, Jan. 23, 2015 /CNW/ - Co-operators Life Insurance Company and its employees raised a total of $154,606 during the 2014 United Way campaign to support the vital health and social services provided by United Way member agencies in Regina.
The staff-led campaign raised $81,780 in donations through fundraising events such as bingos, and bake sales and through payroll deductions. In addition, The Co-operators made a corporate contribution of $72,826.
"Every year our staff lead creative fundraising campaigns and generously donate, knowing that the money they raise makes an impact on so many individuals and families in Regina," said Kevin Daniel, Chief Operating Officer of Co-operators Life. "We are committed to supporting organizations that make a direct impact where we live and work and help make Regina a better place to live for everyone."
Nationally, The Co-operators group of companies raised $613,034 for the United Way. A series of local staff-led campaigns were conducted in offices throughout the country, with both individual donations and corporate contributions directed to local United Way chapters.
The United Way is the largest non-government funder of social services and the voluntary sector in Canada. Monitoring and meeting the existing and emerging local needs and challenges, the United Way provides vital funding to its member agencies, helping to improve Canadians' quality of life.
