The Co-operators Centre result of partnership agreement
and long-term community investment by The Co-operators

REGINA, Feb. 26 /CNW/ - Evraz Place, one of Canada's largest and most
influential event complexes, is pleased to welcome The Co-operators as our
newest corporate partner. Effective today, the multi-purpose arena complex
currently under construction will be known as "The Co-operators Centre".
"We're honoured to have this level of commitment from one of the largest
community-minded companies in Regina," says Mark Allan, President and CEO of
Evraz Place. "The Co-operators have always maintained strong roots here in the
province and we're looking forward to a long and successful partnership with
them."
The Co-operators Centre will feature six regulation size ice surfaces
with the main arena providing seating for approximately 1500 spectators. The
facility will feature full food and beverage services and have the flexibility
to host various ice sports and dry floor events.
"The Co-operators is excited to be part of this dynamic facility," says
Kevin Daniel, Chief Operating Officer of The Co-operators. "As a major
employer in the city, we believe it is important to have adequate event and
recreation facilities to attract people to Regina and to stimulate economic
activity."
The Co-operators Centre will be a key component in bidding for regional,
national and international sporting events. The facility's connectivity to the
Queensbury Convention Centre, Credit Union EventPlex and Brandt Centre provide
Regina with a unique competitive advantage in securing events like the 2010
World Junior Hockey Championships.
This facility will play a vital role in securing the long term future of
events like Canadian Western Agribition and The Royal Red Arabian Horse Show
in Regina. Beginning January of 2010, The Co-operators Centre will also be the
new home of the University of Regina men's and women's hockey teams.
The agreement is for a ten year term at a total value $1,300,000 with an
option to renew for an additional ten year term. The Co-operators Centre is
scheduled for completion in December of 2009. More information about The
Co-operators Centre can be found at www.cooperatorscentre.com.
