GUELPH, ON, June 27, 2011 /CNW/ - The Co-operators has committed $50,000 as the title sponsor of the Concert for Hope, to help raise funds for the residents of Slave Lake. Work is ongoing to rebuild the city after devastating wildfires destroyed more than one third of the town.

The Concert for Hope will take place from June 30 to July 2 at Wide Water Complex, just west of the Town of Slave Lake. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at www.slavelakeaid.com. Slave Lake Red Cross-listed evacuees and anyone directly affected by the fires will be offered free wristbands for the concert. All funds raised from the three day festival will be donated to the Slave Lake Rotary Club.

"This concert will bring together the people of Slave Lake with all of those who have been working tirelessly to help get them back on their feet," says Sherry Watty, The Co-operators Agent in Slave Lake. "Slave Lake is a strong and resilient community and this concert will raise funds and further the healing process for this community."

The music festival is bringing together a broad mix of artists from all over Alberta, across Canada and the UK, including multiple Juno award winners, music icons, local and aboriginal talent and country stars.  Confirmed performers include The Stampeders, Nazareth, Susan Aglukark, Ashley MacIsaac, and Charlie Major among many others. All performers have generously volunteered their talents in support of Slave Lake.
