PETERBOROUGH, ON, Feb. 24, 2016 /CNW/ - Peterborough's Denise Vallee has received The Co-operators Community Achievement Award for her outstanding community involvement. The award was created to honour Co-operators financial advisors who demonstrate outstanding support for the community in which they work, both through financial aid and volunteerism.

Denise Vallee, The Co-operators financial advisor in Peterborough, was named the Community Achievement Award winner for her region. Despite a busy year moving her office, Denise remained committed to highlighting the good works of numerous non-profits in her community through her monthly column, Denise's Community Corner. Denise, her family and staff have also volunteered at, and donated to, many community events such as the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day open house held at her office. This year marked the 10th anniversary of this event, held in conjunction with the Bras Around the Building campaign for the Canadian Cancer Society. 

In addition, Denise is a member of Women's Business Network, sits on the board of directors for Service Co-ordination for Youth, and sponsors the Peterborough Youth Soccer Club.

"I am able to go out into our community and work with those who are making our community a Better Place," said Denise. "I work for a company that encourages, supports and rewards this. I think that is really unique and I am very grateful!"
