Ottawa, November 4, 2014 – The CUMIS Group Limited (CUMIS) has joined with
co-operatives and credit unions across Canada to support the Build a Better World Campaign of the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF). With its most recent donation this fall of $25,000 its total contributions to the Build a Better World Campaign exceed $70,000.
“As a member of the global co-operative community, we are proud to be supporting the significant international development work of CDF,” explained CUMIS’s President and Chief Operating Officer Kevin Daniel. “This CDF partnership aligns with CUMIS’s commitment of investing in economic and social sustainability to build a co-operative economy and create resilient, safe and healthy futures for many men, women and children all over the world.”
The Build a Better World Campaign was launched in 2012 to substantially increase the resources raised from Canadian co-operatives and credit unions for poverty reduction in the developing world. Money raised through the campaign will allow CDF to more aggressively pursue innovation and excellence in co-operative poverty reduction, and leverage substantial additional funds from major international development funders. CDF has worked closely with the Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) over the years and has chosen CCA as its executing agency for most of the programs it has funded.
“We are delighted that CUMIS continues to generously support CDF through this campaign,” said Julie Breuer, Director of Engagement with CDF and CCA. “This generous donation will go a long way in making a difference in the lives of co-op members around the world. We are pleased that they have chosen to join us on this journey to build a better world.”
