The Co-operators Announces New Chief Financial Officer

GUELPH, ON, May 15 /CNW/ - The Co-operators today announced the appointment of Bruce West as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), The Co-operators Group Limited, effective June 4, 2007. Mr. West brings over 25 years of progressive financial and managerial experience in operations, corporate development, and financial management to this role. He began his financial services career with KPMG (Thorne Riddell) in 1980. Subsequent roles included 11 years with London Life; eight years with Clarica; and two years as Sun Life's Chief Financial Officer for Canada as a result of its acquisition of Clarica. Most recently, he has been Chief Financial Officer for Canadian Tire Financial Services Limited and Canadian Tire Bank. "I am very pleased that Bruce has agreed to join The Co-operators and fill this very important role," said Kathy Bardswick, president and CEO of The Co-operators. "Clearly, given his achievements and his experience, we are fortunate to have Bruce joining our team." Mr. West holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo (1980), Chartered Accountant designation (1981), and an MBA in Marketing from Wilfrid Laurier University (2005). He replaces former CFO Kevin Daniel, who has taken on the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Co-operators Life Insurance Company.
